Understanding defines
possibility.

bathe works with people and organisations facing a consequential decision, a new idea or a period of change. It looks beneath the obvious: at the assumptions, experience and narratives shaping the situation—and the possibilities within it.

Sometimes, another perspective is useful.

01 — bathe

An independent perspective for individuals and organisations.

bathe is for consequential decisions, new ideas and periods of change—particularly when familiarity, experience or the existing narrative may be limiting what can be seen.

We help people ask questions and solve problems.

For organisations

A clearer view of what is happening, what may need to change and what could become possible.

For individuals

Space to examine an idea, decision, transition or recurring pattern without performing a role or arriving with an answer.

  • Say what you cannot say elsewhere
  • Think without performing the role
  • Follow a question before you know where it leads

Discretion

A mutual NDA is in place before the first conversation. It covers every discussion, including the initial exploratory call; correspondence and the relationship itself remain private.

The first conversation is simply to see whether bathe could be useful.

I have built businesses, sold businesses and helped other people sell theirs.

I have led teams, recruited senior people, launched ventures and carried responsibility for strategy, investment and growth.

My work has crossed technology, distribution, mergers and acquisitions, consumer products, sport and entertainment.

Rapid growth only matters if it lasts. I have no interest in building castles of sand.

I know what it is to make decisions without feeling certain, to carry responsibility before feeling ready and to look more confident than I felt.

£300k → £6.5mBuilt Gainward's UK business from £300,000 to £6.5 million and established the brand within gaming communities before esports became a conventional marketing channel.
In excess of £30mLed company transactions at BCMS and Evolution, managed a substantial portfolio of live projects, developed the deal team and worked directly with owners preparing businesses for sale.
Como 1907 / Sent EntertainmentDirector of Strategy for Sent Entertainment and Head of Sent Retail, working across strategy, investment and growth. Recruited Como 1907's CEO and led the retail business as sales increased by more than 20,000%.

I learn context quickly and ask direct questions. I understand that decisions affect people as well as numbers. Photography has taught me to look carefully, wait and notice what familiarity makes easy to miss.

Observations

Ways of seeing.

The photographs are not illustrations of the work. They make no argument and offer no conclusion.

Principles
04 — Principles

Principles that guide the work.

Reality changes when understanding changes.

I

Understanding defines possibility.

The most meaningful progress often begins not with greater effort, but with a clearer view of what is actually happening.

II

Narrative shapes reality.

The stories people and organisations believe influence how they behave. Behaviour creates outcomes. Narrative is a practical and directionable force, not just a form of communication.

III

Understanding is rarely permanent.

Perspective changes with experience. Certainty is often temporary. Questions create space for understanding to evolve.

Today's reality is not yesterday's.

IV

Simplicity is sophistication.

Simplicity is not the absence of complexity. It is the result of understanding how and why something becomes complex.

V

Reality requires reinforcement.

A narrative does not become reality because somebody declares it. It is continually maintained through language, behaviour, incentives, decisions and the interpretation of what happens next. Without that reinforcement, entropy begins to expose the construction.

Understanding is only the beginning.

Broader convictions

  • Creativity, integrity and commercial success are not mutually exclusive.
  • New realities emerge when seemingly unrelated disciplines connect.
  • Beauty has practical value — in form, simplicity and understanding.
  • Principles should remain constant. Businesses should evolve around them.

Recurring patterns

  • People often mistake confidence for understanding.
  • Organisations are limited by the narratives they believe.
  • Success reinforces the narrative that produced it, making that narrative harder to question.
  • Experience limits creativity when it becomes assumed reality.
